The plan is earlier deployed as global oil price soars significantly due to Middle East tensions.

Vietnam plans on rolling out E10 biofuel nationwide from June 1, 2026, one month earlier than the previous schedule, as global oil price soars significantly, resulting from the Middle East tensions.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan was quoted by the Government News as saying at a conference on deploying the roadmap for blending biofuels with traditional fuels in the new era, held in Hanoi on March 9, that early implementation would help reduce reliance on mineral gasoline amid global supply volatility.
The use of E5 and E10 bio-gasoline not only helps reduce emissions compared with traditional gasoline, but also contributes to environmental protection and supports the development of the domestic biofuel industry.
E5 gasoline has been distributed nationwide since 2018, while E10 gasoline was piloted between January and August 2025.
In practice, no negative reactions have been recorded regarding the quality of E5 and E10 gasoline or their impact on vehicle engine performance, said the Deputy Minister.
He emphasized that expanding the use of biofuels is an inevitable trend in the global energy transition.
For Vietnam, biofuels can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, fulfill international commitments on climate change, strengthen energy security and diversify fuel supply sources.
The country also has favorable conditions to develop ethanol production materials, along with an existing network of E10 production plants and a nationwide fuel distribution system.
