Authorities of central Ha Tinh Province have approved an investment project to upgrade and renovate the integrated administrative building at Cau Treo International Border Gate, together with the construction of a national border gate landmark and improvements to surrounding infrastructure, with an estimated total investment of nearly VND155 billion (approximately $6 million).

Construction is scheduled to take place from 2026 to 2028.

According to the provincial People's Committee, the project aims to modernize and improve infrastructure at Cau Treo International Border Gate, creating a more integrated facility and an architectural landmark along the Vietnam–Laos border. It is also expected to improve the efficiency of the Cau Treo–Vung Ang economic corridor and boost trade, logistics and import-export activities between the two countries.

Under the approved plan, the project will focus on renovating and upgrading the border gate's integrated administrative building, expanding working areas and improving traffic organization and capacity. The number of traffic lanes will be increased from three to four to accommodate rising transport demand and growing cargo flows.
