More than 100 Vietnamese businesses and 29 companies from Russia took part in a Vietnam–Russia Business-to-Business (B2B) Trade Connection Programme, according to a report by the online newspaper of Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV).

The event aims to create new opportunities for cooperation across a range of sectors, including agriculture, food, chemicals, fertilizers, mechanical engineering and manufacturing, information technology, and logistics.

Speaking at the opening session on September 21, Deputy Director of the Trade and Investment Promotion Support Centre under the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Trade Promotion Agency, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, said that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia has continued to advance in recent years across multiple areas, with economic, trade and investment cooperation playing an important role.

According to Ms. Thuy, there remains considerable room for further development in bilateral trade. The implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) has provided a more favorable framework for trade, helping reduce tariff barriers and creating better conditions for goods and services from both sides to access each other’s markets.

As demand grows for market diversification and the search for new business partners, direct business-matching programmes between Vietnamese and Russian companies are expected to facilitate the exchange of market information, improve understanding of each side’s needs, and create more opportunities for business cooperation.

The programme goes beyond simply connecting businesses with potential partners. It aims to promote substantive cooperation between companies from the two countries, including goods import and export, production cooperation, contract manufacturing, localization of production, technology transfer, and the development of distribution networks in each other’s markets.

Direct meetings between businesses from the two countries are expected to shorten the process of getting to know potential partners while laying a groundwork for continued discussions following the programme and, ultimately, specific trade agreements.

Ms. Thuy affirmed that the Trade Promotion Agency will continue to accompany and support Vietnamese and Russian businesses through national trade promotion programmes, trade fairs, exhibitions, and business-matching activities in the period ahead.
